The atmosphere at the Cape Coast Technical University (CCTU) campus was filled with pride, nostalgia, and celebration as the institution marked its 40th Anniversary Grand Durbar. Among the distinguished personalities who graced the occasion was Mr. Ebenezer  Otabil Taylor, the first SRC President of the then–Cape Coast Polytechnic, now CCTU.

Addressing the gathering, Mr. Taylor delivered a heartfelt message of appreciation to his alma mater, reflecting on the journey of the institution from its humble beginnings to its current status as one of Ghana’s leading technical universities.

According to him, the transformation of the school is nothing short of remarkable.

“Students have grown. This has become a wonderful university, far from what we saw in the 80s. We are grateful to management, to faculty, and to the students. And it is our hope that by the next 10 years, when the school will be 50, we’ll see a tremendous improvement over what we have now.”

He emphasized that CCTU has consistently positioned itself as a top-tier technical university in the country, earning recognition for excellence in technical and vocational education.

Mr. Taylor further expressed admiration for the sacrifices and dedication shown by past and present stakeholders who have contributed to the school’s growth.

“This school actually is the best technical university and will continue to become better and better. I, on behalf of my year group, say a big well done to every one of us here who have made various sacrifices to get this school to its present standard. I’m most grateful. Thank you.”

His remarks drew applause from faculty, alumni, students, and invited guests who had gathered to celebrate four decades of academic progress, innovation, and community impact.

The 40th anniversary marks an important milestone in the university’s evolution from a polytechnic into a modern technical university with expanded academic programs, improved infrastructure, and a renewed commitment to industry-driven education.

As the celebrations continue, many share Mr. Taylor’s optimism that the next decade will bring even greater accomplishments for Cape Coast Technical University.
