The Women’s Wing of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Central Region, in collaboration with the Samira Empowerment & Humanitarian Projects (SEHP) led by the wife of the former Vice President, Mrs. Samira Bawumia, has organized a free breast cancer screening exercise in Cape Coast as part of activities marking Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The event, themed “Early Detection Saves Lives,” brought together hundreds of women from across the Cape Coast metropolis and surrounding communities to receive free breast examinations, health education, and counseling from medical professionals.

Speaking at the programme, Mrs. Samira Bawumia emphasized the importance of regular screening and proactive health care. She urged women to know their risk factors and take active steps toward prevention and early detection.

“Knowing your risk and working on those within your power, as well as visiting your health care provider regularly for examinations and investigations, will help you as a woman,” she stated.

Mrs. Bawumia reiterated her commitment through the SEHP to empower women not only in health but also in education and economic participation. She highlighted that breast cancer remains one of the leading causes of death among women in Ghana, but early detection can significantly improve survival rates.

In addition to her health advocacy message, Mrs. Bawumia used the platform to express optimism about the New Patriotic Party’s future, announcing that come January 2026, the NPP will officially elect Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as the party’s flagbearer ahead of the 2028 general elections.

> “The NPP is poised for victory. We are confident that Ghanaians will vote for Dr. Bawumia to become the next President of the Republic of Ghana in 2028,” she said to cheers from supporters.

The event concluded with a call to action for women to take charge of their health and to continue supporting community-driven initiatives that promote wellness and empowerment.
