The Assembly Member for the Adisadel Electoral Area has appealed to the Cape Coast Metropolitan Assembly (CCMA) and the Government to urgently construct a drainage system to address the recurring flooding in the community.
He explained that the lack of a proper drainage channel linking the culvert on the main road has resulted in frequent flooding whenever it rains, causing severe inconvenience to residents of Adisadel.
The appeal was made during a Coastal Television community engagement programme dubbed “Community Concert,” held at Adisadel, a sub-community within the Cape Coast Metropolis.
According to the Assembly Member, the flooding has become a daily occurrence during rainfall, leading to destruction of property, disruption of daily activities, and increased health and safety risks for residents.
He stressed the need for immediate intervention by the CCMA and central government to construct the drainage system to ensure the smooth flow of rainwater and prevent further damage.
Residents who attended the engagement also expressed concern over the situation, calling on authorities to treat the problem with urgency, especially as the rainy season intensifies.
The “Community Concert” initiative by Coastal Television serves as a platform for community members and local leaders to discuss pressing developmental challenges and advocate for sustainable solutions within the metropolis.
