The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has thrown its weight behind the University for Development Studies (UDS) as the reigning African Universities Soccer Champions prepare to represent Ghana at the World Universities Soccer Championship in China this September.
Earlier this year, UDS made history by winning the Africa Universities Soccer Championship in Nigeria, earning the honour of flying Ghana’s flag at the global tournament. Following their victory, the University requested support from the GFA to ensure a strong showing on the world stage.

In response, the GFA presented sets of training kits to UDS on Thursday. The items were received by Michael Ansa, Head of the Accra Office of UDS, with the presentation made by the Chief Finance Officer of the GFA on behalf of the FA President and Executive Council.
In addition to the kits, the GFA has pledged to provide UDS access to the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram, allowing the team to intensify preparations ahead of their departure.
The Association reaffirmed its commitment to supporting academic institutions that excel in football, noting that UDS’ continental success demonstrates the talent and potential within Ghana’s tertiary education sector.
