A historic and emotional homecoming unfolded today at the Komenda Palace in the KEEA District, where Her Excellency, the Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, was warmly received by the Omanhen of the Komenda Traditional Area, Okatakyi Komeh VIII, and his council of chiefs.

The Vice President, a proud daughter of the land, returned to her roots following the successful 2024 general elections that brought the National Democratic Congress (NDC) back to power. She was accompanied by the Central Regional Minister, senior government officials, and top executives of the NDC.

Addressing the gathering in the grand hall of the Komenda Palace, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Nananom and the people of Komenda for their unwavering support.

“I am deeply honoured and humbled to be back home — not just as a daughter of this land, but as a servant of the people of Ghana,” she said.

“To the chiefs and elders, to every voter in Komenda who believed in our vision — thank you. This victory is yours.”

The highlight of the ceremony came when Omanhen Okatakyi Komeh VIII, in a symbolic and solemn gesture, presented the Vice President with a Holy Bible. He encouraged her to seek wisdom, strength, and guidance from God, particularly during challenging times.

“We give you this Bible not just as a symbol of our faith, but as a reminder that the true source of leadership is divine wisdom,” the Omanhen said.

Traditional drumming, dancing, and heartfelt chants of praise echoed through the palace grounds as citizens, both young and old, gathered in large numbers to witness the momentous occasion.

This marks a proud chapter not only for the Komenda Traditional Area but for the entire Central Region, as one of their own now holds the second-highest office in the land.
