Residents of Adisadel, a sub-community within the Cape Coast Metropolis, are living in fear as a deadly trap caused by a collapsed structure on one side has been left unattended for several months.

The dangerous structure, which is within the old market area, is located behind the Adisadel Kona Ebiradze Royal Palace, about 65 metres from the main roadside. Despite its proximity to the road and frequent human traffic, no visible action has been taken by the relevant authorities to address the situation.

The collapsed area has become a serious threat to residents who use the narrow lane daily to access vehicles on the roadside. The situation is particularly worrying because the path is commonly used by school children, traders, and elderly residents who move through the old market area regularly.

Speaking to Asorba Media.com, a resident, Antie Maggie, expressed deep concern over the neglect of the site.

“This lane is our only way to get to the roadside to take a car. Children pass here every day to and from school. If care is not taken and this place is not fixed, something very bad will happen,” she lamented.

According to residents, the structure has remained in its dangerous state for several months, especially during the rainy season when the risk of further collapse increases. They fear that continuous neglect could eventually lead to loss of lives.

Community members are therefore appealing to the Cape Coast Metropolitan Assembly and other relevant authorities to treat the situation as an emergency and take immediate steps to repair the collapsed structure.

Residents warn that failure to act promptly could result in a preventable tragedy in the Adisadel community, particularly within the busy old market area where human activity remains high.
