Standing Firm for Truth: A Call to Courage on World Press Freedom Day

Today, as we mark World Press Freedom Day, I want to remind my colleagues and friends in the media that the essence of our profession goes far beyond fear, pressure, or intimidation. Journalism is built on truth, courage, and responsibility to the public. While challenges and threats may try to silence us, we must not allow them to define our work or weaken our resolve.

Our duty is to inform, to hold power accountable, and to give voice to the voiceless. When we shift our focus to intimidation, we risk losing sight of that mission. Instead, let us stay committed to ethical, fearless, and accurate reporting. The public depends on us, and history will remember those who stood firm in the face of adversity.

Let this day not just be a reminder of the difficulties we face, but a celebration of our resilience and purpose. Stand strong, stay professional, and continue to pursue the truth—because a free press is not just important; it is essential.
