The Ghana Education Service (GES) has confirmed that it will investigate claims of examination malpractice during the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), following a report broadcast by JoyNews TV.
In a statement released on Sunday, September 7, and signed by Daniel Fenyi, Head of Public Relations, the GES said it has taken note of the allegations and will obtain a copy of the full documentary, including original transcripts, to conduct a thorough review before initiating a formal investigation.
“Management reiterates its firm stance against examination malpractice. Such actions compromise the integrity of our education system, undermine merit, and produce graduates lacking the skills necessary for national development,” the statement noted.
The GES also emphasized that it has the support of the Minister of Education, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, and the GES Council to sanction any official, whether teaching or non-teaching—found guilty of facilitating or participating in malpractice. Those implicated will face strict disciplinary measures under the law and GES regulations.
The Service assured all stakeholders of its commitment to protecting the credibility of the BECE and said it will collaborate with WAEC, National Security, and other law enforcement agencies to prevent and address exam irregularities.
