The Central Regional Manager of the National Insurance Commission (NIC), Madam Nicholina Naa Yeye Adumuah, has donated essential office equipment to the Central Regional branch of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) in a move aimed at strengthening collaboration between the Commission and the media.
The presentation, which took place during a brief ceremony, underscores the NIC’s commitment to deepening its partnership with the GJA to advance public education and awareness on insurance.
Madam Adumuah noted that the Commission remains focused on its core mandate of regulating the insurance industry, protecting policyholders, and promoting financial inclusion through increased access to insurance services. She emphasized that the media plays a critical role in achieving these objectives.
According to her, journalists serve as a vital link between the Commission and the public, helping to disseminate accurate information, drive awareness campaigns, and ensure accountability within the sector.
“The media is an indispensable partner in our work. Through your platforms, we can reach more Ghanaians with the right information about insurance and its benefits,” she said.
Receiving the items on behalf of the regional executives, Mr Isaac Arkoh, a member of the GJA, expressed gratitude to Madam Adumuah and the NIC for the support, describing it as timely and impactful for the association’s operations.
He assured the Commission of the GJA’s continued support in promoting responsible and ethical journalism that will help amplify the NIC’s initiatives and educate the public on insurance matters.
Mr Arkoh also used the opportunity to call on corporate institutions, organizations, and individuals to support the GJA in its mission to uphold high professional standards, defend the rights of journalists, and promote press freedom across the country.
He further highlighted the critical role of the GJA in safeguarding media independence and contributing to national development by creating an environment that attracts investment and fosters inclusive growth in the Central Region and beyond—regardless of location, gender, religion, or political affiliation.
