Odikro of Amoyaw Warns Youth Against Bleaching Ladies

The Odikro of Amoyaw, Nana Kwesi Amoyaw II, has urged young men to “hustle for natural ladies, not bleaching ladies,” warning that skin bleaching poses severe health dangers.

He advised on the launch of PREHENS Central, a health advocacy group under the Ghana Health Service, held in Cape Coast. The event was themed “Unveiling A Cosmetic Menace: Understanding the Dangers and Impact of Skin Bleaching – The Voice of PREHENS Central.”

“Our young men need to stop chasing after ladies who are bleaching. It’s not natural, and many of these women end up with incurable diseases,” Nana Kwesi Amoyaw II cautioned. “Natural beauty is real beauty. Hustle for natural ladies, not bleaching ladies.”

The Odikro stressed that bleaching is more than a cosmetic problem, describing it as both a public health crisis and a cultural threat. He urged a return to traditional values that honour African beauty.

Officials from PREHENS Central backed his remarks, presenting data on the dangers of bleaching products, including kidney damage, skin cancer, and hormonal imbalances. The group pledged to intensify education campaigns across the Central Region and beyond.

PREHENS Central, which stands for Public Response to Harmful Enhancement Substances, is dedicated to fighting the skin bleaching epidemic through awareness campaigns, community outreach, and youth engagement.

The launch ended with chiefs, health officials, and community leaders collectively pledging to speak out against bleaching and encourage young people to embrace their natural skin with pride.
