Cape Coast, July 22, 2026 – An aspirant for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Central Regional Chairman position, Mr. Essibu, has appealed to party members who have become disillusioned and left the party due to disagreements with some executives to return and help rebuild the party ahead of the 2028 general elections.
Speaking to the media after successfully completing the party’s vetting process at the NPP Central Regional Office in Cape Coast, Mr. Essibu acknowledged that the attitudes of some party executives had contributed to internal divisions, which he said played a role in the party losing several parliamentary seats in the Central Region.
According to him, the NPP can only reclaim political power if members put aside their differences and work together towards a common goal.
He therefore urged aggrieved members to forgive past grievances and rejoin the party, stressing that unity remains the party’s greatest strength.
Mr. Essibu also appealed to delegates to vote for him as the next Central Regional Chairman, expressing confidence that his leadership would strengthen the party, reunite the rank and file, and help the NPP win more parliamentary seats in the Central Region.
“We need every committed party member on board. It is only through unity, reconciliation, and hard work that we can recapture power in the 2028 general elections,” he said.
He further called on all party faithful to support whoever emerges victorious in the regional executive elections, emphasizing that the collective interest of the NPP should take precedence over individual ambitions.
Mr. Essibu expressed confidence that with unity, effective leadership, and the support of delegates, the New Patriotic Party would regain the confidence of the electorate, win more parliamentary seats in the Central Region, and return to power in the 2028 general elections.
