Cape Coast, Central Region – The Central Regional Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Anthony Sackey, has appealed to electoral officials supervising the ongoing Cape Coast South Constituency NPP election to immediately revise the voting procedure to speed up the exercise.

Speaking at the election groundsSunday, Mr. Sackey urged the electoral officer in charge to abandon the current walk-in voting arrangement and instead allow delegates to vote electoral area by electoral area.

According to him, by 12:30 p.m., hundreds of delegates were still waiting in long queues to cast their ballots, raising concerns that the voting process would not be completed within the scheduled time.

Mr. Sackey warned that if the current system continued, voting was likely to extend well beyond the official closing time of 4:00 p.m., possibly ending between 6:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.
He explained that adopting an electoral area-by-electoral area voting system would help reduce congestion, improve orderliness, and enable delegates to vote more efficiently.
The appeal comes as party delegates continue to queue patiently to elect new constituency executives in an exercise that has so far remained peaceful. Election officials are yet to respond publicly to Mr. Sackey’s proposal.
