FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Cape Coast, Central Region — The President of the Oguaa Traditional Council, Osabarimba Dr. Kwesi Atta II, has issued a formal statement clarifying the legitimate traditional leadership of Abura, Cape Coast, amidst growing public discussions and disputes over the Abura stool.
Speaking at a press briefing held at the Emintsimadze Palace in Cape Coast, Osabarimba Dr. Kwesi Atta II said the attention of the Oguaa Traditional Council had been drawn to ongoing controversies and misleading claims concerning who rightfully occupies the Abura stool.
In a firm declaration, he stated:
“The Oguaa Traditional Council wishes to make it unequivocally clear that there is only one recognized chief and queen mother of Abura under the established traditional and customary structures of the Oguaa Traditional Area”.
According to the Council, the legitimate traditional leaders of Abura, Cape Coast, are:
Nana Kodwo Addae II – Chief of Abura
Nana Ekuwa Okutta III – Queen Mother of Abura
Osabarimba Dr. Kwesi Atta II emphasized that any other individual or group purporting to hold the Abura stool or represent its traditional leadership does so without the recognition or endorsement of the Oguaa Traditional Council. He warned that such actions violate long-standing customary practices and could incite unnecessary division within the Abura community.
He further called on the general public, government institutions, and the media to respect the authority of the recognized leaders and to disregard any parallel claims or self-styled titles not sanctioned by the Council.
Emerging Tensions and Investigative Findings
Meanwhile, Asorba Media’s investigations have uncovered emerging details pointing to the individual allegedly behind the recent unrest surrounding the Abura stool.
Sources close to the situation have identified the person as Mr. Malik Kwesi Afful, a businessman and CEO of Akwaba Radio in Abura, Cape Coast. According to credible local accounts, Mr. Afful has been presenting himself as “Okofu Nana Ajei IV,” claiming to be the chief of Abura from the Agyeri Ansah Ebiradze Royal Family.
However, the Oguaa Traditional Council’s latest clarification firmly disassociates itself from such claims, reiterating that Mr. Afful holds no legitimate traditional authority within the Abura stool structure.
Community insiders told Asorba Media that the situation has stirred tension among residents, with concerns that the parallel claims could disrupt peace and unity in the area if not promptly addressed.
As the matter unfolds, traditional and civic leaders in Cape Coast are urging calm, calling for respect for the official pronouncement made by the Oguaa Traditional Council and adherence to established customary procedures.
Asorba Media will continue to monitor developments in this story and provide verified updates as more information emerges.
