Queen Mother of New Agyendem Urges Residents to Take Health Seriously!!!!!!!*

New Agyendem, Central Region — As part of the 5th Coronation Anniversary celebrations of Nana Dabrakoh I, Queen Mother of New Agyendem, a free health screening exercise was organised for residents of the community and surrounding areas under the auspices of the Aseebu Traditional Council.

Speaking exclusively to AsorbaMedia.com, Nana Dabrakoh I shared her passion for the well-being of her people and highlighted the importance of preventative healthcare. The event, she said, was a joint initiative between herself, the Chief of New Agyendem, Nana Benyin XIII, and the elders of the community. It formed part of their ongoing efforts to improve the quality of life for the people, especially those who may not have regular access to healthcare services.

“We organised this screening to help detect early signs of illnesses and ensure our people get the help they need,” she stated.

However, the Queen Mother expressed concern about a worrying trend observed after the screenings. According to her, many participants who received medical prescriptions following diagnosis often discarded them because they couldn’t afford to purchase the prescribed medications.

“It is very sad. People go through the whole process—screening, testing—and are given a prescription, and they throw it away just because they don’t have money at the moment,” she lamented.

Nana Dabrakoh I appealed passionately to the residents of New Agyendem and nearby communities not to discard their prescriptions, even if they are unable to afford the medications immediately.

“Please, I beg you all. It is for your own good. Even if you don’t have the money now, keep the prescription. You can buy the medicine later or seek help, but don’t throw it away,” she pleaded.

The Queen Mother emphasized that health is a community effort and pledged to work with local health authorities and benevolent partners to find ways to support residents in acquiring basic medications.

The free health screening included checks for blood pressure, blood sugar, malaria, and other common ailments. Hundreds of residents turned out for the exercise, which also featured health education sessions by medical professionals.

The 5th Coronation Anniversary of Nana Dabrakoh I has been marked with several community-focused activities, including clean-up exercises, cultural displays, and empowerment workshops for women and youth.

As the celebrations continue, the Queen Mother remains committed to her role not just as a traditional leader, but as a mother figure and advocate for the total well-being of her people.
