Ghana Para-Powerlifting Launches Talent Hunt In Cape Coast

The Ghana Para-Powerlifting Association, working under the National Paralympic Committee of Ghana (NPC-Ghana), has rolled out its new nationwide programme dubbed “Lift Beyond Limits: A New Hope Through Para-Powerlifting” with an inspiring launch at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium.

The project is designed to give physically challenged persons, many of whom have battled social exclusion and self-doubt, a renewed sense of confidence through sport. It also seeks to unearth fresh talent across the regions to strengthen Ghana’s para-powerlifting team for future national and international events.

More than 35 individuals with physical impairments from the Central Region participated in the opening event. The technical team was led by Head Coach Prince Nyarko, assisted by George Ohene-Adu and national paralympian Tahiru Haruna.

At the close of the day, 12 promising athletes were identified and will now continue with structured training and development. The exercise also helped expand Ghana’s national database of para-powerlifting participants, a key step in the long-term growth of the sport.

The Association extended gratitude to NPC President Samson Deen, Dr. Abena Tannor, and other partners for their support in making the launch a success.
